While we are an online high school, we understand and emphasize the importance of getting away from the screen. Many of our assignments require our students to spend time outdoors and create in person connections. Your child’s experience with us will require both online and offline commitments.
Online

Students attend live lectures via video calls with their teacher and classmates. Here they study materials together, while also getting the chance to ask questions and interact with each other.
Our full time students take 6-8 classes per semester, with each class meeting 1-2 times/week for 1 hour and 15 minutes via a live video call. In total, students spend about 16 hours/week online attending classes. Below you will find our graduation requirements as well as a sample schedule.
Off-line
In order to balance out the time spent online, students participate in the following activities. Students then meet with their advisor each week to track progress in each of these areas.
Students may find any form of exercise that resonates with them. Currently, we have students that participate inSports, Martial Arts, Dancing, BodyBuilding, Rock climbing and Running! To receive full credit for this area students must dedicate at least 5 hours towards physical exercise each week.
Students, in collaboration with their adviser, select one activity or subject that they will strive to develop mastery. This could include learning a musical instrument, learning to cook, starting a business, marketing or website design or woodworking. Developing expertise in a chosen field helps students develop a sense of accomplishment, self-determination, and confidence. To receive full credit for this area students must dedicate at least 5 hours towards their chosen skill each week.
In order to help our students become lifelong learners, we encourage them to develop the habit of reading. Depending on their current reading level, students must read a minimum number of pages from a book of their choice each week.
Students, in conjunction with their advisor, identify skills which can be leveraged to earn an income, brainstorm business ideas or practice the interview process and learn about money management. This helps students to gain valuable work experience, while also learning about a fundamental aspect of adult life. The money that students earn from their personal efforts is then used to help finance their Service Adventure Trips.
Service is an important part of helping our students to expand their worldview and develop maturity. Every student engages in some form of service throughout their week. This can be in the form of tutoring, dog walking, volunteering at a local food shelter or any community improvement project. This experience helps students realize the importance of humility and the joy that comes from helping others.
In addition to the above listed activities, advisors work with each student to help them develop the time management skills needed to succeed in life, this includes creating a weekly time block schedule that includes a balance of school work, exercise, service and play.
Service Adventure Trip
In addition to these off-line activities, each year Living Wisdom International organizes an in person travel experience called the Service Adventure Trip. Students get a chance to meet their classmates in person and explore a new part of the world, all while learning the benefits of Service. In the past our students have gone on trips to Switzerland, Mexico, Peru….
